Mission Statement:

McGrath Contracting strives to provide exceptional outdoor experiences to all users of the facilities we maintain. By creating opportunities for a diverse range of people to enjoy the natural environment, we aim to foster a sense of stewardship in people that will ensure current and future generations always have pristine areas to enjoy.

The Owners 

Jason and Melinda McGrath are the proud owner/operators of McGrath Contracting Ltd. and Coastal Welding. They have been in business since 2000 and opened a 2-acre full capacity shop in April 2017. They were incorporated in 2012. Jason is a Red Seal Certified Sheetmetal Worker as well as an estimator, project manager, and working foreman. In 2015 he was featured as one of the most versatile up and comers in the construction business under the age of 45 in Build magazine.  Melinda oversees all financial aspects of the business and is the human resources and office manager.

In the community, the McGrath’s donate to Greenways Land Trust and are strong supporters of many community events.

The Manager

Alanna Theoret is the Recreation Manager for McGrath Contracting Ltd. She has an Integrated Environmental Planning diploma from Selkirk College and a Bachelor of Environmental Practice from Royal Roads University. Originally from Campbell River, she was in the West Kootenays for seven years recreating and getting educated before being hired by the McGraths and returning to her hometown. She brings an enthusiasm and passion for the outdoors that serves her well while carrying out her recreation-oriented tasks. Due to the diversity of her position, she may be found on the Sunshine Coast working in Provincial Parks, all over central and northern Vancouver Island maintaining forestry sites, or in the office doing administration tasks.
